Each day I try to do one project with Bea, and a cooking project is always a win-win! she loves to help, and we all get to enjoy a baked good at the end :)
This week we did good old fashioned Oatmeal cookies, with chocolate chips of course!! I have a recipe that uses a special ingredient...
The Maple syrup gives the cookies a great sweet flavor! and of course only Vermont Maple syrup will do.
Here are the other ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
2 sticks unsalted butter - room temp
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup Maple Syrup
1 large egg
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 cups rolled oats
Mix all dry ingredients together and set aside. Beat the butter and brown sugar together until fluffy, add the Maple syrup, egg, vanilla and mix until combined. Add the dry ingredient mixture in two batches, mix until combinde. Add the oats and chocolate chips, mix until combined. Scoop onto a cookie tray and bake at 325 for 15-20 minutes.
The recipe is super easy and Bea loved to help!
The recipe made about three dozen, enough to last a few days in our house anyway!
The best part of this project is the taste test...
They got Bea's approval!
